gea-Perak BEST Event Promotes Health, Recycling, and Environmental Awareness

On the bright morning of July 27, 2024, the serene town of Malim Nawar buzzed with enthusiasm as Pusat Khidmat Rakyat ADUN Malim Nawar hosted the much-anticipated event, Perak Bersih Dan Sihat (Perak BEST). This event, graced by ADUN Malim Nawar, YB Puan Bavani A/P Veraiah, aimed to foster community health and environmental consciousness, supported by co-organizers Majlis Daerah Kampar (MDKpr).

Diverse Participation for a Greater Cause

The event saw participation from a range of esteemed agencies dedicated to public welfare and environmental stewardship. Notable attendees included representatives from Hospital Kampar, Jabatan Penerangan (JAPEN) Perak, and campaigners from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) advocating under the banner “We Want No Plastic”. Green Energy Asia (GEA) played a pivotal role, notably highlighting the importance of recycling used cooking oil (UCO) through an informative booth.

Empowering Through Education and Action

Activities throughout the day catered to both health and environmental enthusiasts alike. Visitors benefited from health screenings and contributed to the noble cause of blood donation. A recycling showcase and a fashion show featuring garments made from recycled materials captured the creative spirit of sustainable living.

GEA’s involvement in UCO recycling was particularly impactful. Visitors were engaged through an educational pamphlets, emphasizing the hazards of improper UCO disposal and the benefits of ethical recycling practices. Local residents also participated actively by contributing their used cooking oil, which GEA pledged to recycle into biodiesel, aligning with their commitment to sustainable energy solutions.

Forum on Sustainability and Plastic Management

The event concluded with a thought-provoking forum addressing the pressing issue of single-use plastics and effective waste management strategies. Representatives from GEA, UTAR, and MDKpr led insightful discussions. GEA shared their innovative approaches to managing plastic byproducts and proposed actionable steps towards reducing single-use plastic in daily life.

Looking Ahead

Perak BEST not only raised awareness but also inspired collective action towards a cleaner and healthier environment. The collaboration between public institutions, educational bodies, and community organizations underscored the power of unified efforts in driving meaningful change. As communities continue to embrace sustainable practices, events like Perak BEST serve as catalysts for a greener, more responsible future.

In summary, Perak BEST exemplified the spirit of community engagement and environmental stewardship, leaving a lasting impact on participants and paving the way for continued advocacy and action in the pursuit of a sustainable Perak
