KAMPAR, August 23, 2024 – In a move to promote sustainable practices and better waste management, GEA has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the MDKpr. The agreement was formalized by Tuan Ahmad Suqairy bin Alias, Yang Dipertua MDKpr, marking the start of a strategic partnership aimed at the ethical and eco-friendly disposal of used cooking oil within the district.
With this collaboration, GEA becomes the official strategic partner of the MDKpr, bringing expertise in managing used cooking oil waste in a responsible manner. This partnership aims to ensure that the process of disposal is carried out in a way that minimizes environmental impact while fostering a culture of sustainability among local businesses and residents.
Promoting Responsible Waste Management
The initiative represents an important step towards the responsible management of used cooking oil, aligning with GEA’s commitment to sustainability. By partnering with the MDKpr, the company aims to create awareness and encourage ethical waste disposal practices, particularly in the hospitality and food service industries, as well as among households in the Kampar area.
“Through this agreement, we aim to support the MDKpr in achieving a cleaner, healthier environment by ensuring that used cooking oil is collected and disposed of properly,” said a representative of GEA. “This collaboration not only helps to reduce pollution but also contributes to a circular economy by repurposing waste materials in a sustainable way.”
Positive Impact on the Community and Environment
The MoU highlights the potential benefits for the local community, including better waste management practices and a reduction in environmental pollution. The collaboration is also expected to raise awareness about the importance of proper disposal methods, which can prevent the harmful effects of improper waste disposal on local water systems and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The partnership comes as part of GEA’s broader efforts to contribute to Malaysia’s environmental sustainability goals, in line with initiatives such as Perak Sejahtera 2030. By working together with local authorities, GEA aims to demonstrate how industry and government can collaborate to achieve a greener, more sustainable future.
Towards a Greener Future
The collaboration between GEA and the MDKpr sets an example for other regions looking to improve their waste management practices. It showcases how public-private partnerships can address environmental challenges effectively, benefiting both the local ecosystem and community well-being.
GEA remains committed to working closely with the MDKpr and the community to promote sustainable practices and ensure that the region continues to thrive in an eco-friendly manner. The MoU is just the beginning of what promises to be a fruitful and impactful journey towards creating a cleaner, greener Kampar.
